Another job that “Americans won’t do”

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

While this article is about Mexican Americans moving back to Mexico…or not…what struck me is this:

Rafael Fernandez, 30, an undocumented immigrant in Sacramento, said he used to earn $18 an hour working for a private company that paved sidewalks, under contract, for the city of Sacramento.

$18 an hour for paving sidewalks? And they “can’t find” Americans to do that job? I Call BS! My citizen sons would LOVE a job like that AND they wouldn’t send the money they earn out of the country.

Oh, and I Call BS! on the city of Sacramento for allowing illegal aliens to do their contract work!

Sweden claims discrimination by EU

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Color me shocked:

Björling called the snus export ban “one of the clearest infringements on free trade within the EU” and vowed to step up her efforts to overturn the measure.

“This unilateral and clearly specially formulated legislation which prohibits ‘the release on the market of tobacco not intended for smoking or chewing’ cannot under the best intentions in the world be seen as anything other than discriminatory. And it’s only Swedish snus which is affected,” writes Björling in an article published in the Aftonbladet newspaper.

The poll attached to the article is interesting in its own way.

Q: What do you think about the EU ban on Swedish snus exports?
A’s:
Outrageous, a flagrant violation of the free movement of goods within the EU: 37%

The ban is justified on public health grounds and ought to be extended to other tobacco products: 31%

I don’t care: 32%

Update: Bangkok Airport

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

The National Police General did NOT go in and retake Suwannapoom Airport (nobody says Suvarnbhumi!) so he got fired (note that he was NOT publicly flogged!) and the People Against Democracy are saying, “We’ll fight to the death if you mean people try to stop us from abusing the whole Thai nation!”

Where’s a company of Indian commandos when we need one?

So as of this afternoon the Bangkok police general declared the airport a proscribed zone, allowing the police to arrest trespassers without seeking individual warrants. Good.

These petty thugs are demonstrating just how far they can push their abuse of civilized peoples’ good will and Buddhist (Christian) tendency to ‘give them the benefit of the doubt’… laughing all the while at the rubes and maroons who let them get away with murder, destroying the tourist industry of a whole nation and seriously crippling commerce on dozens of fronts with a few hundred people. That’s all, Reader, a few hundred obnoxious, whining, loud-mouthed ‘protesters’ are bringing Thailand to her knees!

For shame!

Airport News & More

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

From the safe (heh!) suburbs of Bangkok, this week plods slowly to a close with the weekend and end-of-month coming up.

Suwannapoom (NO, it is NOT pronounced Su-var-na-b-hu-mi) Airport is still shut down by the gutless cretins now in their 19th month (?) of continuous ‘protest’ of everything they can think of to protest, whine about or criticize! The legitimate, legally-elected government is crippled by disunity and an archaic holdover called Rule of Law (what? outrageous!), to which it bears allegiance as the ‘loyal opposition’ sabotages every effort-to-date to clean up these by-now semi-professional “People Against Democracy” protesters!

For more in-depth reporting on this and other Thai issues, I recommend Bangkok Pundit.

News Flash! Global Warming is so cold this year that people are dying in northern Thailand! Will someone PLEASE tell Reverend Gore his ‘Gaia Religion of Global Warming’ is proving to be a disaster?

Take Action Near YOU!

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

A lawsuit filed in California, Nov 14th, seeks to verify that Mr Obama is, in fact, eligible to serve as US president.

That lawsuit IS NEWS, and BIG NEWS, but the Mainstream Media are NOT REPORTING it, at all!

The citizens of America have a right to know that “…on or before Dec 1, Barack Hussein Obama must respond to the Writ of Certiorari…”

Now, WHAT CAN I, the reader, DO?

If you’re in America, you can:
1/ Print out ONE SHEET of paper with these links on them, and the MAJOR MEANINGFUL POINTS, and

2/ Take it, in person, with a calm friend or two, to your local TV station, and

3/ ASK assertively but courteously if they are going to inform at least the citizens of THEIR broadcast region/responsibility ABOUT THESE LAWSUITS.

4/ If YES, ascertain WHEN, and publicize it.

4a/ IF NO, make it personal, and publicize the NAME and Media Position of the person you spoke with, to make public their names HERE, or at Instapundit.com or at LittleGreenFootballs.com We can quickly publicize the names and functions of people who REFUSE to let Americans learn of the possible ineligibility of Barack to serve as president. If they want to ignore the Constitutional requirements for POTUS, then they can experience the legal notoriety that comes with such an obstructive, anti-American choice!

Move! Get on this, NOW! BREAK this MSM-imposed blackout on reporting legitimate efforts to ascertain Mr Obama’s eligibility to serve as president. The action-point here is NOT that Obama is ineligible to serve, but that MSM are NOT REPORTING legitimate efforts to ASCERTAIN his eligibility.

The Birth revisited. I may have been wrong, but I doubt it

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

On July 6, 2008 my friend Grumpy wrote a post about the question of Obama’s eligibility to serve as President based on questions regarding his citizenship. My response was, “If there were really anything to the rumor that he’s not a natural born citizen, it would have been PROVEN long before now by people more powerful than us bloggers.”

While I still think I was right, baldilocks also commented saying, “I do think it’s a trap. BHO will put forth the actual certificate when all eyes are watching and make those who are obsessed with this issue look foolish. Watch.”

I also think baldilocks is right.

However, at this point I really have to question Obama’s fitness to take the office of the POTUS for this simple reason: He has been asked by citizens of the United States, both informally and through the courts, to submit valid proof of his citizenship and his eligibility to hold the office of POTUS (specifically, his long-form birth certificate and any and all passports), AND HE HAS REFUSED. In effect, he is thumbing his nose at the citizens of the country he wants to lead.

Frankly, I’m just insulted. I have to show a certified birth certificate and an original Social Security card just to get a driver’s license - yet Obama can’t be bothered to do the same to be allowed the privilege of serving in the country’s highest office?

I think that, once these lawsuits finally can’t be ignored anymore are picked up by the MSM, THEN he will show proof of his eligibility and forever after refer disparagingly to those “right wing nuts” who thought he wasn’t even a natural born citizen.

I won’t care about being disparaged by him. I WILL care that he showed such contempt for the citizens of the United States that he hired three law firms and paid thousands of dollars just so he could do his disparaging.

If…IF…this is how it plays out I hope that millions of us contact him personally and remind him of what he said November 4, 2008, “And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn - I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.”

You did not hear our voices, and you are not acting like our President.
