Indian-American Sandip Ray Leads Alzheimers Breakthrough

17 October 2007 — Twenty five scientists, led by first author Sandip Ray of Satoris Inc in Redwood City, California, are reporting that they have developed a blood test which may eventually tell you two to six years before the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.


The breakthrough molecular test for Alzheimer’s disease that could lead to better treatment and therapies was announced in the Oct. 15 advance online edition of Nature Medicine with Anton Wyss-Coray of Stanford University as senior author.

Turkish lawmakers authorize military incursion into Iraq

Turkey’s parliament voted overwhelmingly today to approve a possible cross-border offensive against Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq - a move that could escalate the bloodshed in the already volatile region.

Lawmakers voted 507-19 in favor of authorizing Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to order the military to cross into Iraq over a one-year period.

Bush urges China to meet with the Dalai Lama

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush defended on Wednesday his plan to appear at an award ceremony for the Dalai Lama in the face of Chinese objections and urged Beijing to open talks with the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader China views as a separatist.
